Deer Lakes School District Announces New Assistant Superintendent

The Deer Lakes School District has announced that Dr. Beth Hutson will serve as the new Assistant Superintendent following a 9-0 vote on Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2026, by the Board of School Directors.
Dr. Hutson has more than two decades of experience in public education, including her current role as Assistant Superintendent at the Mount Pleasant Area School District.
“We are excited to welcome Dr. Hutson to the Deer Lakes School District,” Dr. Janell Logue-Belden, Superintendent of Schools, said. “Dr. Hutson’s expertise in education and student-centered focus will be invaluable in continuing to strengthen the District’s curriculum and teaching strategies, resulting in greater student outcomes.”
Dr. Hutson’s experience mirrors the values and vision of Deer Lakes School District. She has been part of the (AASA) Learning 2025 Commission and led the development of Mount Pleasant Area’s "Profile of a Viking Learner." She also established "Portals Project," a multi-sector partnership with Case Technologies, Carnegie Mellon University, and Epic Games that utilized 3D digital imaging for historical preservation – a project recognized by the PA Department of Education as an exemplary model.
Dr. Hutson launched a satellite "Aspiring Educators" program in partnership with the Westmoreland County Career and Technology Center to help address teacher shortages and has extensive experience designing MTSS frameworks, leading professional learning, and securing multimillion-dollar grants to support district goals.
Dr. Hutson earned a Doctorate in Education (Curriculum and Instruction) from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and a Superintendent’s Letter of Eligibility from the University of Pittsburgh.
