DLSD Teachers Reach Settlement
CHESWICK, Pa. - The Deer Lakes Board of School Directors unanimously approved a new four-year contract with the Deer Lakes Educators Association (DLEA), the professional organization for the school district's 135 certified teachers, nurses and guidance counselors, at its monthly voting meeting. The new four year deal is retroactive to July 1, 2013 and will run through June 30, 2017.
Deer Lakes Middle School Hosts Lt. Col. Smith
Cheswick, Pa. - In November, as part of the school district's week-long salute to Veterans, United States Army Lt. Col. Cloyd Smith visited with the entire sixth grade class at Deer Lakes Middle School to discuss his military service and how he uses concepts he learned in school to assist him in his job every single day.
Deer Lakes' Jaros Named PASC Middle Level Advisor of the Year
Altoona, Pa. - The Pennsylvania Association of Student Councils named Deer Lakes Middle School guidance counselor Jackie Jaros its 2015 Warren E. Shull PASC Middle Level Advisor of the Year at its 78th annual state conference held at Altoona Area High School.

Take a Veteran to School Day
Curtisville Primary Center recently hosted its annual Take a Veteran to School Day and this year's event featured 90 veterans, the most ever to attend the event.
"In partnership with the community, the Deer Lakes School District will provide a dynamic, comprehensive educational program and support services necessary to meet the diverse needs of all students in a safe, caring environment, thus enabling them to reach their potential as responsible, productive citizens."
The Deer Lakes School District has been designated as a Tobacco Free Zone. The use of all tobacco products is now prohibited on all Deer Lakes School District grounds and facilities.
